Working Principle of the Plate Frame Filter

The plate and frame filter press is a classic, highly reliable filtration device consisting of alternating filter frames, filter plates, and a gear pump-driven oil feeding system. The filter cloth sandwiched between each filter plate and frame forms multiple independent filtration chambers. Under pressure (typically 0.4–0.6 MPa), crude oil is forced through the filter cloth; solid particles are retained in the filter cake, while the clarified oil is discharged through individual outlets located beneath each filter plate. Our design complies with the IB/T 4333-1997 standard and is suitable for both partitioned and plate-type pressure oil filters. The filter cloth or specialized filter paper is tightly compressed between the filter plates and frames to maximize sealing efficiency, prevent bypass leakage, and ensure uniform cake formation. This mechanism is particularly effective for high-viscosity oils (such as palm oil, canola oil, and sunflower seed oil) and can achieve particle retention as fine as 5–10 microns, depending on the grade of the filter cloth.

Ideal Applications
