Soybean Oil Plant & Processing Machinery

HuaTai focuses on producing high-efficiency soybean oil processing plants, including soybean oil extraction machines, soybean oil press machines, and complete refining systems. Our advanced technology ensures the highest oil yield, retention of nutritional components, and cost-effective production, suitable for both small-scale and large-scale industrial production.

Soybean Oil

Soybean oil is one of the most widely consumed edible oils globally, extracted from soybeans (or yellow beans), which typically contain 11-20% oil. Soybean oil is versatile and nutrient-rich, used for cooking, food processing, and industrial applications. Countries such as China, the United States, Argentina, Brazil, and India are major soybean producers, making soybean oil plants critical for efficient soybean extraction and refining.

Soybean Oil Processing Plant – Key Components and Production Line

The soybean oil production line involves multiple stages, from cleaning and preparation to pressing or solvent extraction, followed by refining. Depending on scale and expected oil yield, processors can choose mechanical pressing (suitable for small to medium-sized plants) or solvent extraction (suitable for large-scale industrial production). HuaTai provides comprehensive engineering design, installation, and operator training services.

1. Soybean Pretreatment Process

Before oil extraction, soybeans must undergo pre-treatment to ensure optimal oil yield and quality. Key steps include:

A. Soybean Cleaning & Destoning

The purpose is to remove impurities that may damage machinery or affect oil quality, such as dust, stones, metal, and other foreign objects. Main equipment includes:

  • Cleaning Sieves: Remove larger impurities like leaves and stems.
  • Magnetic Separators: Extract metal particles to prevent equipment damage.
  • Destoners: Remove sand, soil, and small stones.
  • Aspiration Systems: Control dust to create a cleaner processing environment.

B. Soybean Crushing & Conditioning

  • Crushing: Soybeans are crushed into smaller particles to increase surface area, improving heat and moisture transfer during conditioning.
  • Conditioning (softening): Adjusting temperature (60-70°C) and humidity (10-12%) to enhance plasticity, making oil extraction easier.

C. Flaking

The crushed soybeans are rolled into thin flakes (0.25-0.3mm thickness) to rupture oil cells, improving oil yield during pressing or solvent extraction.

D. Extrusion (optional for solvent extraction plants)

An extruder is used to create porous cores, improving solvent penetration efficiency in extraction plants.

2. Soybean Oil Extraction Methods

Soybean oil extraction primarily employs two methods: mechanical pressing & solvent extraction.

A. Mechanical Pressing (Soybean Oil Press) Suitable for small to medium-sized plants (1–50 tons/day).

Process:

  • Pre-treated soybeans are fed into a screw oil press, where high pressure is applied to extract the oil.
  • The residual oil in the cake is around 5-8%, with an extraction rate of 65-70%.
  • The crude oil is filtered to remove solids and then refined.

Advantages:

  • No chemical solvents are used, making it an ideal choice for organic and cold-pressed oil production.
  • Lower initial investment compared to solvent extraction.

B. Solvent extraction (high oil yield) is suitable for large-scale industrial plants (50-5,000 tons/day).

Process:

  • Soybean flakes are soaked in food-grade hexane to dissolve the oil.
  • Distill the mixed oil (oil-hexane mixture) to recover the solvent, yielding crude soybean oil.
  • The residual oil in the meal is less than 1%, maximizing profitability.

Advantages:

  • Higher oil yield compared to pressing (up to 99%).
  • Defatted soybean meal can be sold as high-protein animal feed.
Soybean Oil Refining

Soybean Oil Refining Process

Crude soybean oil contains gum, free fatty acids, pigments, and off-odors, requiring refining for edible use. The refining process includes:

  • Degumming — Removing phospholipids using water or acid treatment.
  • Neutralization (deacidification) — Eliminates free fatty acids via alkali refining.
  • Bleaching (Decolorization) — Removing pigments and impurities using activated clay.
  • Deodorization — Steam distillation removes unpleasant odors and volatile compounds.

Refined soybean oil is produced into high-quality edible oil meeting national and international standards according to customer requirements. Refining capacity ranges from batch production at 1 TPD to continuous refining lines at 500 TPD. All equipment can be customized with PLC control systems and CIP (Clean-in-Place) pipelines for GMP-level operation.
