Investors building or upgrading oil mill plants often struggle to choose between a mechanical oil press and a solvent extraction plant. These two edible oil processing methods differ significantly in technology, cost, and application, yet are frequently combined in industrial production. 1. Mechanical Pressing (Oil Press)

Mechanical pressing extracts oil through physical force without chemical solvents. It is suitable for high-oil-content seeds such as peanut, sesame, rapeseed (canola), and sunflower seed.

  • Residual oil in meal below 1%

Solvent extraction is suitable for medium and large oil mill plants (30–5000 TPD) requiring high capacity and maximum oil yield.

3. Pre-Press + Solvent Extraction

For medium and large projects, combining an oil press with a solvent extraction plant provides the best efficiency:

  • Pre-press removes most oil.
  • Solvent extraction recovers remaining oil.
  • Oil refining plant improves color, odor, and stability.
